Child Development

At St. Lawrence Montessori School it is our aim to ensure that every child attending the school has suitable means of expression and development through the use of Montessori equipment, books, games and other play materials having regard to his or her age and development.

Grainne Morris

Most of Grainne's experience in Montessori education came from her time as Head of the Montessori Unit (32 children) at Lansdowne Lodge Montessori and pre-school which is located on Shelbourne Road in Ballsbridge. Grainne started there in May 2001 and worked there up until July 2005.

In recent years, while waiting to open her new school, Grainne has acted as a substitute Primary school teacher particularly in local schools in Clontarf and Killester.

Play Area

The school is equipped with a large play area measuring over 80sqm. There is a synthetic grass surface with extra safe rubberised base that also drains quickly. This means that your child can use the play area even shortly after a rain shower. This ensures almost daily exercise for your child even during the winter months.

The play structure is made in Sweden by HAGS, a highly respected manufacturer whose products conform in full to the latest European Safety standards. For more, please visit http://www.hags.com/aboutus.asp?land=gb&link=3.

The play area is walled on all sides and can only be accessed by a security-controlled gate.

Montessori Materials

There is an extensive range of Montessori materials available to the children. These have been made by a Dutch company, Nienhuis Montessori, who specialise in the manufacture of the highest quality, most durable materials. For more, please visit http://www.nienhuis.com.
